A teenage girl was injured and the teen boy she was with faces charges after a vehicle he was driving hit her Thursday night after she got out  in a parking lot, city police said. 

Police were dispatched to the parking lot of the Walmart on Herrera Drive at about 10:15 p.m. Thursday, Capt. Lawrence Barnett said. A girl who had been riding in a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old boy got out of the vehicle and then the vehicle struck the girl in the parking lot, Barnett said. 

He said the girl was taken to an area hospital, treated for "non-life-threatening injuries" and discharged Friday morning.
